I recently read an article where the author suggested 6 ways to avoid bad dreams. The author said bad dreams occur "during rapid eye movement (REM) late in the evening and because we jerk awake during them, we usually remember all too clearly the fear, anxiety, and horrors." She then proposed six ways to avoid bad dreams by offering tips, such as avoid anxiety and stress, in order to avoid bad dreams. Along that spirit, I propose several movies we should all stay away from vehemently to avoid horror dreams: 1. Anxiety and Stress - Home Alone is a stressful movie. All that chasing around to beat up a minor is quite frankly neither funny nor cute. There's a whole forum dedicated to the subject if you don't believe me: http://www.elitefitness. com/forum/entertainment- movies-tv/home-alone-most- stressful-movie-ever-590559. html 2. Spicy Foods - While I am a big fan of Wes Anderson The Darjeeling Limited had great potential for being an original movie but left a bad taste in my mouth for a story going nowhere. It receives a spectacular remarks for failing in a spectacular way.
3. Fat Content of Food - Marley & Me. While this movie is selling tickets at the theater there beating descent movies like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button there's nothing fascinating about Jennifer Anniston's mediocre acting or a humdrum story no one will remember a year from now.
4. Alcohol - When I was in college, I knew people who played drinking games every time Chevy Chase told a lie in the movie Fletch they would take a swig. While our generation doesn't have appreciation for the Fletch franchise -- we hold higher standards in drinking games with heroes such as Will Ferrell in Old School - we certainly appreciate Chevy Chase's discombobulated acting which paved the way for legends like Will Ferrell. Non of these movies however should be watched right before bed time. It's more like mid-afternoon hangout movies on the weekends.
5. Drugs - while actually a greatly respected film in most circles, Requiem for a Dream is sure to leave anyone feeling queasy regardless of whether you love it or not. If you're going to watch it, turn it into a Trivial Pursuit game where every time the characters do drugs you pause and play another roll of the dice on the board game. That should water down the horror and amuse you.
6. Illness - Avoid watching any cheesy chick-flicks like Bridget Jones' Diary (in some circles known as Bridget Jones' Diarrhea) that have no substance. In fact, you may just be better off watching the whole Saw franchise to maintain from getting sick to your stomach. the article "Six Reasons We Have Bad Dreams": http://www.divinecaroline. com/article/22201/62493- six-reasons-dreams
