Jen Chaney from the Washington Post reports:
In yet another bit of high-profile "Glee guest-casting, Anne Hathaway has apparently signed on to appear on the show. Her role: Shell star as the lesbian aunt of Kurt, played by Golden Globe winner Chris Colfer.
MTV and other outlets are reporting the news, which was originally broken during E!s post-Golden Globes show. (Somehow in the fog of Gervais jokes and Helena Bonham Carter dresses, we missed this.) Its unclear when the episode will shoot, when it will air or whether it will impact Colfers oft-stated dream of getting Julie Andrews (Hathaways "Princess Diaries co-star) to play Kurts grandmother.
What we do know is that Lesbian Aunt on "Glee adds yet another primo item to Hathaways resume after a year in which shes played a phone sex operator ("Valentines Day), a Parkinsons disease patient ("Love & Other Drugs) and soon-to-be Oscar host (real life).
So in summary: This comes as great news to fans of Hathaway who think she can add another shot of Gwyenth Paltrow-style energy to the show; terrible news to "Glee fans who are sick of all the stunt casting; and inconsequential news to everyone else on the planet.
For those who need a reminder of the power of Hathaways pipes, proceed to the jump to watch her singing with Big Bird. (By the way, its only a matter of time until Big Bird gets cast on "Glee as one of Rachels feathered, distant and vaguely delusional cousins who teaches the "Glee kids its okay to believe in imaginary elephant-like creatures. Mark our words.)
