Tonight on Around the World in 80 Plates, the chefs are heading to Buenos Aires, Argentina. There are 4 chefs left, so they have to split up into two teams. Seeing as Avery is MVC, she gets to pick first. She picks Nookie, so that leaves John and Liz to form the other team.
When they arrive in Argentina, they have to take a taxi to Rincon Norteno Empanada Shop. For their first course, they have to make and sell 80 Empanadas to the locals. Avery and Nookie get right to it seeing as they have experience cooking for large numbers of people.
While cooking, it starts to get really competitive because now everyone is out to get each other. While making her ground beef, Liz forgets to check on her Empanadas and they are burned. She burned a batch of empanadas.
Good job, Liz
Avery and Nookie finish theirs first and head to Parque Ravardaria, where they have to sell 150 pesos (or $15) worth of empanadas. Unfortunately, when they hit the streets, they realize it's not as easy as it sounds selling to the locals.
Avery and Nookie empanadas: $5.00 each
Liz and John: 2 for $5.00/each
People come flocking to both carts, but one local woman realizes that Liz's and John's were cheaper. Avery then soon realizes that her math was wrong. They end up being 30 pesos short, but Nookiw sells them to a local and he takes the rest to make up the difference.
They next have to find Cat and Curtis at Puerto Madero. Nookie and Avery reach them first and get to use the exceptional ingredient: they get to work with a grillmaster, or an asador, to know how to grill their meat, Argentinian style.
