Betty White snags a SAG for 'Hot in Cleveland'

EXAMINER REPORTING -- What a great night for Betty White who snagged a SAG award from her peers for her comedic role in Hot in Cleveland.

And hot is just what this seasoned actress is, despite -- or maybe because of -- her advanced age of 89 (her birthday was on January 17). Betty White plays Elka on the sitcom which airs on TV Land and takes place in one of Ohio's coolest cities.

This year's Screen Actors Guild award for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series put Betty White up on stage at the podium in Los Angeles' landmark Shrine Auditorium during which time she told the crowd of her fellow actors that she was in disbelief about her win.

Then she added, "And they had to get the old broad up those stairs, and that's not easy. I must say, this is the biggest surprise I've ever had in this business. There wasn't a prayer."

But, for those who were watching the SAG Awards 2011, Betty White wasn't a surprise winner at all and even though she was up against such popular actors as Edie Falco and Tina Fey.
