"Canadian Idol" Cancelled

CTV has cancelled Canadian Idol after six seasons as a result of the global economic downturn.

"As a result of the current economic climate, production of Canadian Idol will rest for the 2009 broadcast year," the network said Wednesday in a brief statement explaining its decision not to air Canadian Idol in 2009.
