EW.com reports that William Petersen will be leaving CSI sometime midseason, however will remain throughout the run of the series as an executive producer hinting that he will be making guest appearances but will take a smaller role.



Petersen plays the characher Gil Grissom who leads a team of forensics investigators in Las Vegas, he said, 'I'm an actor, it's time to do other things.'


The success of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has led to two spin-off versions, set in Miami and New York.
