A fixture of this glorious nation's New Year celebrations for longer than most can recall, Dick Clark, we are told, may have mere months left to live.
Since his first TV job as a weather reporter in the grainy, black-and-white days of 1945, the modest New Yorker, who'll turn 80 next month, has won 5 Primetime Emmy's and an indelible place in this country's heart. But life for this legend is now sadly low-key.
