It doesn't matter if she's a "Pretty Mess" or part of the "Party People" phenomenon that's trying to ignite the world, Erika is a force to be reckoned with on the pop/dance music scene.
As an alluring vocalist, Jayne is the perfect blend of part singer, part seductress. As a blonde bombshell with striking blue eyes, a svelte physique and dance moves that would make Britney want to take a peek, Jayne is definitely making a name for herself in the music industry.
The singer recently scored her sixth consecutive No.1 hit on the Billboard Hot Dance/Club chart with "Party People (Ignite The World)". It's a fun dance anthem where she sings out to her legion of friends "On my signal across the USA, party people, every boy and girl, let's get ready to ignite the world."
The video for "Party People (Ignite The World)" featured a sexier-than-ever Erika Jayne and was directed and choreographed by Mikey Minden, co-artistic director/photographer for Pussycat Dolls. And with female backup dancers, decadent makeup and club-ready outfits, you can tell that the talented Minden was on deck.
Jayne's other No.1 hits include: "Rollercoaster," "Stars", "Give You Everything", "Pretty Mess," and "One Hot Pleasure." With her No.1 chart topping success, Jayne is one of 13 artists who have taken their first four hits to No.1 since the Hot Dance/Club Play chart launched in 1976, according to Billboard.
So, of course due to the success of all of her singles, a full length album is on the way. I was able to speak with Jayne about her success, touring and what we can expect from her upcoming album.
JMG: How does it feel having "Party People" be your sixth No.1 hit?
Erika Jayne: It felt amazing. I love the song a lot. It did its job.
JMG: What makes a great club record?
EJ: When you first hear a great club record, all you want to do is put down your drink and hit the dance floor.
JMG: When can we expect your new album to be released?
EJ: I'm currently in the studio now. The first single is going to be titled "United." It's written by the same people that produced "Party People". I'm very excited! I've performed it already. By the end of the song people were nodding and smiling, so that's a good thing. The album will be released this summer.
JMG: Will you be touring again this year?
EJ: We're definitely going to support the album with touring dates, and there will also be a video for "United."
JMG: What's your favorite part about making music videos?
EJ: I love the finished product when you get to see it all put together. The first day is cool where you see everyone in costume and it's all coming together, It's pretty exciting actually.
JMG: You've had six songs top Billboard's Hot Dance/Club Play charts. I hope to see you on top of the Hot 100 chart soon.
EJ: The Hot 100 is never a bad place to be, let me tell you. I think "Party People" is definitely a song people can relate to as well as the music from the new album.
JMG: You're a very attractive woman . How important is it to maintain your look in conjunction with creating great music?
EJ: I think it goes hand in hand- your image, your music, your message. I always enjoy a good costume and a hair and makeup look. It's all about your brand.
JMG: Madonna will be performing at the Superbowl this weekend. Will you be watching?
EJ: Are you kidding me. I'm the biggest Madonna fan on the planet. I'll be glued to by TV set.
JMG: Where are some of your favorite places to perform?
EJ: I love performing everywhere. New York City is awesome. Miami is great. Vegas is fun. I was just in Chicago. Every city has something different to offer. It's my pleasure to bring my music to each city.
