Lil' Wayne's record label is denying reports that the rapper's 8-year-old daughter was killed in a car crash over the weekend, and a relative has lashed out, calling the source of the falsehood 'miserable in their own skin.'
'NO,' a representative of Universal Motown told Black Voices when asked about the validity of the report, which emerged as a news story by
MTV's UK portal that has since been removed from their site. That report cited unnamed sources claiming that 8-year-old Reginae, who Wayne often mentions in his lyrics, was killed on late Sunday evening.
Quickly following the whirlwind of reports, a woman claiming to be Reginae's aunt posted the following denial on
Wayne's MySpace page: "I am pleased to inform you that this report is false. It is merely a rumor started by someone who obviously is miserable in their own skin that they would even have the notion to attack a child."
The MySpace post goes on to say that 'Reginae is tucked away in her bed at this very moment trying to get past the hurt this ugliness has caused her and our family.'
Following the MTV report, which was picked up by numerous Hip-Hop sites, fans began posting condolences on Lil' Wayne's MySpace page. One common response, from 'HEY WAYNE SORRY TO HEAR BOUT YO BABY GURL...KEEP YO HEAD UP BABY...AND R.I.P REGINAE CARTER AKA ANGLE BEAR!! SHE WILL FOREVER BE WIT YOU.'
