Friends pay Tribute to Isaac Hayes!

More than 3,000 friends and fans gathered in Memphis to celebrate the life of the late soul icon Isaac Hayes, including the likes of Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson and actress Kelly Preston, the Associated Press reports.
Monday's public memorial began with a drum march, followed by a video clip of Hayes and longtime friend Jesse Jackson on stage at a 1972 concert in Los Angeles. Hayes was remembered for his contributions to music, but also for his humanitarian efforts.
"He was a lovely man, always involved with causes," Jackson said. "Literacy, civil rights. He was always there, and that's why we're all here for him."
Although no autopsy has been performed, Hayes' family doctor filed paperwork saying the soul singer died of a stroke on Aug. 10 at age 65.
On Friday, Denzel Washington, Tom Cruise and Wesley Snipes attended the private memorial service for the late Hayes.
Others there to pay tribute to Hayes included U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, who said the city of Memphis should celebrate Hayes' achievements -- just as they remember Elvis Presley's legacy
