Gap Inc. to Seperate U.S. & International Operations

The Gap Inc. announced January 17, 2002 that it intends to separate it's domestic and international operations in an effort to boost flagging sales. The Gap has 4,179 stores, including 665 in Britain, France, Germany, Japan and Canada. Sales have declined in the last two years as the company operated the U.S. and international chains as a single organization.
