WTF: Why is Schue the lead?

In this episode, as well as so many others, Will Schuester seems to take the lead in the vocal numbers. I can see if he were showing them a technique that would make sense, but he seems to just take the lead to sing for singing sake. The kids should be complaining about them not being the lead or getting to do all the singing. After all, it is the kids Glee club, not Will Schuester's. Perhaps ...
