This just came across the wire... Simon Cowell has added a fourth judge to the American Idol judging panel for this coming season -- Season 8. 

WOW... this is huge but it comes as no surprise given how spacey Paula Abdul has been especially during her last critique on Season 7 where she completely spaced out on the song being discussed during the final rounds.
