There is one problem for celebrities, with their strong images and distinctive characters, in being dressed by designers: designers have strong images and distinctive characters, too. That could be one reason for the biggest trend in Hollywood dressing right now: buying brands. And in no category is the brand more popular than Louboutin Shoes. The three most fashionable names here are Hush Puppies, J. P. Tod's and Christian Louboutin.Across town, on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, the Italian company Diego Della Valle opened its boutique on Nov. 11 to meet the demands of the huge clientele for its J. P. Tod's driving Louboutin Shoes, with their distinctive rubber nubs on the soles. The star gazers outside made it look a bit like Planet Hollywood, and Sharon Stone and Kelly Lynch were among those who came.Christian Louboutin, a few doors away from Diego Della Valle, claims a similar roster of Christian Louboutin Shoes clients, including Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Ellen Barkin and Sigorney Weaver. As tried and true names in footwear have seen a resurgence in popularity, Anna Sui tapped into the trend, putting Hush Puppies, along with preppy staples Papagallo and Etienne Aigner, on her last runway. The resurgence of preppy Louboutin Shoes is another sign of the resurgence of the brand. The preppy look of the late 70's was studiously antidesigner in its fixation with the trappings of education and old money. It was about eschewing designer clothes. And perhaps as designers have become celebrities in their own rights, what is looking cool in Hollywood and elsewhere is to look not made up by a designer at all, but loyal to something that says the wearer isn't trying too hard: flat Christian Louboutin Shoes and casual clothes.
