Fans of Pirates of the Caribbean are in for a surprise - the fourth movie will have a new cast member - actress Astrid Berges Frisbey.
The French native was personally selected by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Bob Marshal to play the role of Syrena, a beautiful and alluring young mermaid in the forth- coming film. Relatively unknown outside of France, the newcomer is a rising star and has starred in such films as La Fille du Puisatier, Bruc, and La Premiere Etoile. She is of French-American and Catalan parentage and Pirates will be her first American film.
Frisbey will join the movie with Johnny Depp reprising his role as the infamous Jack Sparrow, with Ian McShane as Blackbeard and Penelope Cruz as Blackbeard's daughter.
According to Slashfilm.com the plot of the fourth movie will be based on Tim Powers' The Strangers Tide, focusing on Blackbeard and the Fountain of Youth. Pirates of the Carribbean: On Strangers Tide will begin filming in June on location in Hawaii, London, and Los Angeles with a tentative release date of Summer 2011.
