Kanye West is so angry with paparazzi after his arrest on Friday morning that he called for a law against them.
"Let us not forget that the paps killed Princess Diana. When will there be a law passed... that someone has to ask to take a photograph of you? That would seem like common courtesy," the rapper wrote on his official website.
West was detained early on Friday morning after a complaint from freelance photographer Terry Blackburn. The rapper was released without charge.
The paparazzo told BBC1Xtra his version of the story. The incident happened outside the Tup Tup Palace club in downtown Newcastle. The rapper was walking towards his vehicle accompanied by four women and Mr. Blackburn approached the car to take a few spicy pics.
"As I approached the car which he was getting into, he ran around the back and I ran around the front to try and meet him around the side," he told BBC 1Xtra. Just as he raised the camera to his face to snap a few pics, the rapper pushed the camera into his face. The incident ended with the paparazzo's nose being "cut open."
On the other hand, West said that he was very bothered by the fact that the "thirsty paparazzo... felt he had more rights to my space than me." The rapper said that he put his hand in Blackburn's face to cover his lens and prevent him from taking his image.
"I didn't assault him, merely putting my hand up to cover his lens."
After the paparazzo filed a complaint, West was arrested a bit later at his hotel in Gateshead, and taken to a police station.
