CNN is reporting that cyclist Lance Armstrong will be hitting the road once again to race in the Tour de France. "I have decided to return to professional cycling in order to raise awareness of the global cancer burden," the veteran champion said in a statement issued by his LiveStrong Foundation.
Armstrong is a seven-consecutive-time winner of th Tour de France will be formally returning to pro-cycling on September 24.
A little insight for you sports fans... Wikipedia says Armstrong has a VO2 max of 83.8 mL/kg/min, much higher than the average person (40-50). VO2 max is the maximum capacity of an individual's body to transport and utilize oxygen during incremental exercise. This all translates to Armstrong's heart being 30 percent larger than average individual. No wonder he's such a wonderful guy!
