LOS ANGELES -- As model and trans-lesbian poet Alysyn Bourque prepares for the March release of
'BLACKLIGHT CHRONICLES', a collection of her lesbian themed poetry, she is also putting her money where her pen is.
Bourque announced today that she will give 10 percent from the sale of each book to support breast cancer research and awareness.
Bourque said she has a family member who has battled breast cancer and that this is her way of standing in solidarity.
Why 10 percent, you ask?
"If it's good enough for God it's good enough for our breasts", replied her spokesman.
Bourque has been an adult model since 2005 and she has appeared topless in countless photographs. Two of the most popular series was
'NAKED UNDER THE MOON' and
'PORTRAITS OF A POETESS'.Bourque has also been a strong advocate for LGBT rights and signed a transgender petition to the United Nations in 2006.
One of her most popular poems on the internet is
HuddledMoonlight peeks
Throught gaps between the
Mottled boards which surround me;
These wretched walls inside which I lay
Upon dampened earth,
Where days pass unaware
And the nights are cold to bear;
You gave no time of calling -
Of when you would again find me -
To draw me from this,
My prison of solitude;
There is only faith within me
Of our love, so strangely wrought,
And here, for your return, I wait
Huddled, dry, and shaken;
I have strength enough to loosen
A single splintered slat and escape
This, my shelter, where
Loosed upon the wilderness surrounding,
Alone and lost, I would wither
Slowly, overtaken by it's denizens;
But I, rather, would wait for you;
For though these hopeless walls protect me
It is in your arms where I am truly safe... Bourque is also planning on an October release of another collection of poems and is working on another project for 2013.
She resides in Los Angeles and is openly Trans-Lesbian.
