Two weeks after the presidential nominee ticked off the talk show host by canceling at the last minute - then filming an interview with
Katie Couric instead - comes word that McCain is in talks to appear on
The Late Show with David Letterman later this month.
McCain's reps are negotiating an appearance on Dave's show sometime around the final presidential debate on Oct. 15, reports the
New York Post. The former POW will already be in the area as the debate takes place at Hofstra University on Long Island, NY.
The trouble between the men began on Sept. 24 when McCain abruptly canceled a planned appearance on the show just hours before he was due to appear, claiming he had to return to Washington to deal with the financial crisis. However, Dave's producers obtained live footage of the
Senator sitting down with
Katie Couric at the same time he was supposed to be taping
The Late Show, prompting Dave to crack on McCain practically every night since.
