Making for a heart-touching moment at the star-studded spectacle, Mariah Carey made a surprise appearance to pay tribute to the late Whitney Houston at the 2012 BET Awards in Los Angeles, CA on Sunday (July 1).

The "Glitter" superstar emerged from behind the curtains after a brief introduction at the Shrine Auditorium before leading off a multi-act toast to the recently departed Grammy-winning singer.
