I think he is the king of POP.

Bono and U2 are great and have amazing music, but he's not really pop, is he? So he can't replace Michael. Even if he hasn't released anything good recently, that doesn't deny him credit for what he did in the past, which was an amazing collection of music that will be replayed every now and then. Even kids growing up now have at least heard of Thriller and know the name Michael Jackson.
