Milla Jovovich has joined Robert De Niro and Ed Norton in Mimran Schur Pictures' thriller Stone , reports Screen Daily . The film starts shooting on Monday in Michigan. Jovovich will play the wife of a convicted arsonist (Norton) who is deployed in a psychological game of cat-and-mouse with his parole officer, played by De Niro. John Curran is directing from a script by Angus Maclachlan.
Jovovich makes no sense in this role.. From what I know of the part, it is meant to be a late 20's-early 30's native Detroit girl with a working class, urban flavor. She is from the USSR, has an accent, looks much older than her claimed age, and isn't that great of an actress. I have to wonder if nepotism played a part. She was married to Luc Besson, possibly related to Rene Besson (one of the producers). They are most likely related. I have no interest seeing this movie now, if she is truly to play this role. She should stick to action movies and not try to compete for the spotlight against DeNiro and Norton.
The comment above is made by an idiot. Jovovich has NO accent and is of Russian decent. Who in America is not of another decent? Secondly, she is 33 years old which is the perfect age range for the role, and finally, she looks amazing for her age. I have seen her in person shopping for groceries in Los Angeles, wearing no make-up and she looks younger than he years. She is no longer married to Besson, that ended 10 years ago, she is a new mom and is with Paul Anderson. no nepotism here. Maybe Ms. Jovovich is finally getting the chance she deserves. Some people actually work hard and Jovovich's work ethic is well documented. Man, I am so tired of the haters!! Bravo Milla. Well done!
Um, ok. You're an idiot. She was from the USSR, the part she was from is now Ukraine. Secondly, accent or no accent, she will never be believable as a working class girl from Detroit. Third, she does look old. Fourth, just because she was divorced from Besson doesn't mean that they can't still be friends. I believe they've worked together since. And fifth, she is not a great actress. She should stick to action movies where she wears tight clothes and shows no range. That's what she's best at. Trying to act opposite DeNiro and Norton is not advisable or a good decision for someone like her. Probably a lot of really great actresses went out for this role, and she stole it. She's already a name, and studios always go for that over talent, since they're all about the money.
And I bet she didn't even have to audition for it. She probably just found out about it and told her agent she wanted it. And bam! She undeservedly gets it, when this could have been a breakthrough role for some supremely talented actress who really deserves it. I bet she's never even been to Detroit, and probably knows nothing about it. But good luck, Milla! I hope you can pull this off somehow!
