The sequel to last year's
Clash of the Titans began shooting over a month ago, and the first handful images from the film's set in Tenerife have just been released. (The film is rumored to be called
Wrath of the Titans, but as that title has not yet been confirmed, I'll stick with calling it
Clash of the Titans 2 for now.) The sequel features several members of the
Clash of the Titans cast, including
Sam Worthington,
Liam Neeson,
Danny Huston and
Ralph Fiennes, as well as a handful of new stars.
Jonathan Liebesman (
Battle: LA) replaces Louis Leterrier as director. Check out the photos after the jump.
There's not a whole lot of action going on in these photos, but we do get a good look at some of the village sets and one of the boats featured in the film. Head over to
Tumba Abierta (via
Geek Tyrant) to check out the rest of the thirty-odd images that they've posted from the set.
Synopsis:
A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus-the demigod son of Zeus-is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius.
Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity's lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.
Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus' godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramrez), switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans' strength grows stronger as Zeus' remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth.
Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon's demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.
Clash of the Titans 2 opens
March 30, 2012. In addition to the Worthington, Neeson, Huston and Fiennes, who will reprise their roles from the last film, the film also stars
Rosamund Pike as Andromeda,
Edgar Ramires as Ares,
Toby Kebbell as Argenor, and
Bill Nighy as Hephaestus.
