Peaches Geldof has married an unknown American musician after a whirlwind romance lasting just a few weeks.
The 19-year-old tied the knot with Max Drummey in a Las Vegas wedding chapel last week.
In a statement, the couple said they were 'delighted to announce their very happy marriage'.
The news comes as a shock, because just last month Peaches was publicly declaring her love for another man, Faris Badwan, the 21-year-old frontman of The Horrors.
But her father Bob Geldof, 56, told the Mail last night that he gave the marriage his full support adding: 'I have nothing further to add to what has been set out in the statement.'
It is believed he did not know about the wedding until the last minute.
Critics have already branded the nuptials a publicity stunt, as Drummey's band, Chester French, is launching its first album next month.
The statement about the wedding was littered with plugs for Mr Drummey's band. It went on: 'Max's band, Chester French, played at the ITV iTunes festival (in London in June), where Peaches was a co-presenter of the show.
'The acclaimed new Boston band were signed by Pharrell Williams to his label Star Track, a subsidiary of the giant Interscope Label. Their marriage has the full support of their family and friends.'
