The UK's Daily Mail reports that thesp Russell Crowe has been told by acclaimed director Ridley Scott to slim down for his role as the sheriff of Nottingham in the forthcoming Robin Hood film.

Scott will be the guy at the helm of the Robin Hood movie.

The British director is credited for making tubster Crowe a star by casting him in Gladiator, a role that won him the Best Actor Oscar.
