Simon Fuller messing with Simon Cowell is not smart... Fuller, who rarely gives interviews, spoke out to say Idol has improved since Cowell left. Fuller told newspaper The Mirror: 'We wanted to lose the negativity and be more motivational.
But have not fear Cowell Fans. Cowell is hoping his new show will overtake Idol in the affections of viewers and he has history on his side - the launch of the X Factor in the UK quickly led to the demise of the once ratings leader Pop Idol, on which American Idol is based.
Yesterday Cowell talked up the U.S. version of the show, which is already a megahit in Britain, ahead of the first round of auditions in March.
