The Australian Senate has rejected a bill to give equal marriage rights to gay citizens. The bill was introduced by the Greens but was defeated only days before one of the world's biggest gay celebrations, Sydney Mardi Gras.

Game Two of the World Series was spiced up with some top-notch musical entertainment on Thursday night, as Jay-Z and Alicia Keys rocked Yankee Stadium with their song "Empire State of Mind."
