For four straight weeks the teen country star has topped the U.S. pop album charts with her sophomore album
Fearless. Now, she's been asked to be the
musical guest on this weekend's
Saturday Night Live.
"Something I've been dreaming about and hoping for and wishing for years... I just found out that I get to play on
Saturday Night Live," the 19-year-old wrote in her
MySpace blog. "It's my mom's birthday, and I don't think either of us would've believed you if you would've told us a few years ago that we'd get to spend her birthday in New York City - at
Saturday Night Live! Wow. It's pretty unreal."
The rising star - who had a bitter breakup with
Joe Jonas in the fall - also talked about her summer tour plans.
"I'm so, so, so excited for it to all come together," said the
singer, who was an opening act for
Tim McGraw and
Faith Hill during their 2007 Soul2Soul tour. "Yesterday, my stage designer brought over a model he made of the stage [and] I've worked up most of the musical arrangements and transitions between songs. I can't wait for you to see this show."
