The Glades Recap 8/6/12 Season 3, Episode 9 "Islandia"

Two conservationists (one of whom of course dives in a little pink and black bikini) are diving and come up on the beach of a small island. Guess what they find? This week's body.
Callie is talking about med school anxiety with Carlos. Unfortunately, she's supposed to be talking to Jim and her time is up by the time he gets the phone back. Daniel shows up excited to be on the island because it's filled with endangered species. He's also the only one who knows the victim on sight. He's a lottery winner which leads to Jim making a bad "out of luck" joke before we go to credits. Honestly, that only works when you're making fun of Csi Miami.
We get a quick history lesson about the islands (which together are called "Islandia") from Inappropriately Dressed Bureau Chief as she and Jim go to talk to the island's owner and sole inhabitant, who for a second I thought was Elton from Clueless, but he's on Suburgatory. Not Elton is an openly hostile misanthrope though he gets points for pointing how stupid Inappropriately Dressed Bureau Chief's footwear is for being out in the field. He saw nothing and knows nothing and wants them all to leave him alone. While briefly in his house, Jim notices an old wrestling trophy with someone else's name on it. Gee, think that will come up later?
Jim wants to visit Callie, but she's busy with work and med school and you'd think he'd understand, but this is THE WORST SUBPLOT EVER so he's suddenly become very needy. Carlos tells him that while the blow to the head killed him, his internal organs were shutting down anyway, probably from poison. According to Colleen and Inappropriately Dressed Bureau Chief the victim used his money to buy a lot of real estate and has one heir: his younger brother. Jim and Inappropriately Dressed Bureau Chief go to see him and while navigating through the small fleet of exotic vehicles in the driveway we get clumsy dialogue that takes us to her own long distance relationship, which is also part of THE WORST SUBPLOT EVER! Of course it's also in trouble. The deceased's brother is playing with a pretty neat remote control Coast Guard copter when they find him.
