Will is off his game as he closes the evening broadcast, thanking his audience for "washing". When he gets off the air he admits to Mack that he's had a bout of insomnia that's kept him awake for several days now and he's arranged an appointment with his psychiatrist who he hasn't seen in four years, but has nonetheless paid for the hours missed.
Accompanied by a large bodyguard, Will arrives at the doctor's office only to find out that his trusted and experienced psychiatrist has passed away and has been replaced by his 29 year old son, Jack (guest star
David Krumholtz). Will reluctantly steps into the youngster's office. While Will is only there for some sleeping medication, he's manipulated into utilizing the whole hour-long session for a little self-analysis. Thus we backtrack to earlier days...
Tired of the ridiculous comments he receives on his website from viewers basking in the safety of their anonymity, Will has Neal install a program that will identify all users' names, ages, occupations, etc. It's a system intended to scare off individuals who can't stand by the words that come out of their mouths, but it all backfires when one person breaks through the system and makes an anonymous death threat towards Will. Charlie pulls out all the stops and puts a bodyguard on Will (hence the big guy from earlier) and assembles
A Team to research Will's history in order to get ahead of all possible tabloid stories.
Sloan helps out the news team by using her fluency in Japanese to pre-interview a spokesperson for a Japanese company who will guest on the show later that evening. Since the spokesperson is an old friend, Sloan obtains information off the record that the company's radiation reactors will reach a radiation level of 7, but on the record, the level stands at 5.
