''When Jon Stewart comes out with a book, nobody describes him as the Jewish father of two,'' says Meyer. The best selling author is almost always described as a Mormon author, not just the author of the very successful book series. I am not a Mormon, but the Mormons that I know are incredibly kind, generous, raise great families and are involved in their communities. They have had bad publicity due to supporting marriage being defined as one man and one woman. This is the belief of most churches and even Obama's policy. The books are world-wide hits and don't include, explicit sex, gore, cursing, drugs or nudity. Perhaps that is part of their appeal in today's tattooed, sexed up anything goes world.
Just like a small percentage of gay priests ruined the reputation of the Catholic church, a few splinter groups/cults sullied the reputation of the Mormon church.
As a member of a "main stream" church, I was shocked over the anti-Mormon comments that I overheard at the Comic Con 2008 event that Ms. Meyer was an honored guest at. Nobody would dare make anti-Islam or Jewish comments in public, so why is it acceptable to say such rude remarks about Mormons? Obama attended a madras in Indonesia in his early years. Would it be ok to assault the radical teachings of Islam publicly? Surely Islam's teachings of hate towards "infidels" (Jews and Christians), inequality of women and denial of civil rights for all is more offensive than anything the MAJORITY of Mormons practice. Why are Mormons fair game? Since Obama learned Arabic, the Kuran and its teachings, does that mean that he embraced all the teachings of Islam? Mormons started plural marriage during a time in our history and settling of America where there were few women and in an effort to take care of widows and children. It has been illegal for a long time.

Agreed completely... Very goOd points about the way Islam Extremists teach their faith. I am sure that any God wouldn't want OR request the abhorrent terror attacks they do. It is true that she is refered to as "The Mormon mum" and i can understand why she is peeved at it being used everytime she gets a mention in the media. The Osmands also had the same, they were refered to as the "Morman raised talented family" a few times. Its weird now i think of it, why their faith would get a mention, as if it is important to any of us who reads it.
